Alexandr Esaulov was born in 1924.

He was the participant of the Great Patriotic War, companion of Order of Glory, battle medals. He started at the Red Army in the begging of 1944. He was demobilized in 1948. After graduating Nikopol metallurgical training college, he worked at Nikopol Yuzhnyi Pipe Metallurgical Plant.

While working on Nikopol Yuzhnyi Pipe Metallurgical Plant, Esaulov rose through the ranks from master to plant deputy chief engineer. Herein considerable part of his working path he held the position of the head of pipe rolling plant No2 – the most complex manufacturing unit, producing smooth and threaded pipe from unique steel and alloys. The great merit and every day labour of talented engineer and technical officer led to appearance of new sorts of tubular goods, extension of gauge, improvement of pipe quality.

An essential stage in his life was post of the director of Nizhnedneprovsk pipe mill named after Karl Liebknecht, which he recieved in result of special order of sector ministry in 1969.

During this period the plant was in constant modernization: old manufacturing workshop were reconstructed and new ones were being built; new objects of infrastructure service were also being built. Throughout his history, the plant did not develop so rapidly. The pipe rolling plant No4 was put into service, the largest in the USSR, wheel-rolling shop was reconstructed, flagship of pipe-rolling industry – plant No5 with pipe-rolling plant 140 was put into operation, also modern lines of production and control of tubing pipes of “Heid” company (Austria), building of the only in the country ring and bracer plant was started, also a number of auxiliary workshops and subdivisions (laboratory of standardization and metrology, structural subdivisions of central plant laboratory , etc). Besides some social objects were built and put into service – the building of rest house for plant staff named “Zhemchuzhina”, children's holiday camp, dental care, Metallurgists palace of culture, sporting complex with pool were finished, administration and amenity rooms and canteens were improved and updated.

Alexandr Trophimovich was elected as a deputy of Supreme Council of Ukraine and USSR for many times. He was a laureate of state prize, awarded with Order of the October Revolution, Order of the Badge of Honour and medals.

He had authority and respect over plant staff, directors of other iron and steel companies, scientists.

According to the opinion of many specialists of pipe and tube production of former USSR, Alexandr Esaulov was the most famous and authoritative director of Nizhnedneprovsk pipe mill named after Karl Liebknecht.
