In 1927, successfully having graduated from mining institute named after Artem, A.P. Chekmaryev works as an engineer on metallurgical works named after G.I.Petrovskiy, but soon he is invited as an associate professor on the department of mechanical and heat treatment of metals in the mining institute. Since 1931 Alexander Petrovich had been heading a department of metal forming in Dnepropetrovsk metallurgical institute. He had been working here till the last days of his life.

A.P. Chekmaryev has written over 500 tractates, received 48 inventor's certificates.
